28 February, Knysna

Peter 11

Today is the last day of February, Thursday the 28th. In 10 days we will leave Knysna and tonight we will discuss where we are going. Last week we made some trips in the area and my in-laws have been visiting us. Also we have been to the hospital on Monday in George for a check up (father-in-law). He needs to come back in 3 months.

Yesterday Tom and I brought them back to Dysselsdorp. Tom drove the 130 km long tour (2 hours to and 2 hours back) partly on unpaved roads. That he found wonderful to do!

On Tuesday morning I was at the Emergency in Knysna hospital. Sinds Mondaymorning I had a lot of pain in my left ankle and this was, a day later, not diminished. The doctor in the hospital observed gout, an acute inflammation of the joint caused by a too high acidic content of my blood. The latter is a genetic abnormality that is reinforced by overweight, alcohol consumption and, yes, stress. I immediately got medicines and they help well. By the way, they prescribed morphine as a painkiller and that works pretty well!

I now can hobble but our intended visit to Tzitzikamma must wait a few days!
