We are in Moatize after a ride of almost 400 km. Moatize is located just above Tete, about 120 km from the border with Malawi that we will be crossing tomorrow. The drive to Moatize was easy with only a small part potholes. There was a warning on the internet for the police in Tete, but luckily I was not bothered. I’m not even stopped today!

We saw a lot of Baobap trees on the way, I estimate thousands. Beautiful sight. Just north of Chimoio there were also some ‘ Inselbergen ‘. These are quite high mountains that just protrude from the flat land, a typical phenomenon for Mozambique.

Oh yes, also nice to report that many people here are cycling and not for sports but to carry things. So we are not alone in the Netherlands.

This road had an astonishing number of resting places so I could really stop and rest. There is a Mozambican under each tree, along the road, which gives a little shadow and tries to sell chickens, hares and other things.

Tomorrow so Malawi. We don’t make the ride that long because a border crossing always takes time and especially stress. We hope to be on Saturday at Lake Malawi, on a campsite. Today a hotel!
