It is now Friday, April 26 and in a week we will be back home. I say that with considerable joy because the last few weeks have fallen heavily on me. I’m really bored here and looking for things to keep me busy with.
It sounds like a lament….and it is a bit! At least for me because Lisa has a lot of fun with her family, which makes it all more bearable for me. It makes a person think how she must have experienced her move to the Netherlands 33 years ago.
I always had, in the back of my mind, the plan to drive straight through Africa again, but I’m cured of that now. Solving endlessly all kinds of problems during such a trip, which I used to have a lot of fun with, looks now terrible for me. In fact, I firmly insist on my refusal to solve any problem if it is not directly about myself. It will have to do with my last years as a business owner but also more recent experiences.
Lisa and I will have to start thinking about how we will travel in the coming years, if we still want to.
We walk a lot here in the area as the photos show. On Wednesday we went out for dinner in honor of Lisa’s birthday and yesterday we walked almost 10 km through the sand. Today Lisa’s sister and sister-in-law are coming and tomorrow they have conceived the idiotic plan to go up Table Mountain, on foot.
So tonight I’m in the apartment with all these women and I’m really looking forward to that….

Deze realistische inzichten krijg je pas als je echt lang van huis bent. Dus… kom maar weer lekker naar huis. 🙂
Ik begrijp je sentimenten wel hoor en ook dat je er nu anders in zit dan toen je jonger was. Tijd om dus weer lekker terug te keren naar ons goddelijke kikkerlandje. Neem je wel wat zon en warmte mee voor ons? Dat is wat wij hebben moeten ontberen, naast de nodige stress de afgelopen periode. haha.
