Ronda – 18 april 2023

Peter 12

Today we are in Ronda and that is one of the oldest cities in Spain and by old I mean that it already existed in the 9th century. At the time, the south of Spain was part of the Moorish empire and you can still see that influence everywhere in the architectural styles. The old part of the city (La Ciudad) is separated from the new part by a very deep gorge over which three bridges have been built. The whole city towers above the valley because it is built on a huge rock formation. Our campsite is only 2 km away from this city so we had a great walking day. Lisa is even now back probably to buy something (no idea what). Yesterday she went for a run in the area and was chased by a horse, really. She was eventuallysaved by a Spaniard. Oh well, in Italy a runner was eaten by a bear so it could have been worse, couldn‘t it? On the way to Ronda we drove past the city of Seville and through a beautiful hilly landscape. This area (AlAndaluz during Moorish times, now Andalucia) has a fantastic history that we would like to see but it is the crowds that keep us away. Cities such as Granada, Seville and Cordoba are beautiful to visit just like Ronda where we were today but you walk over the heads of all visitors and that does not suit us very well. Tomorrow we will move on, but we dont know where to go yet.

    Weer prachtige plaatjes trouwens.
Blij dat Lisa gered is van het paard. Ze heeft vast een persoonlijk record gelopen.

Ze is in training voor de halve marathon van Leiden (15 mei geloof ik) dus dit was een goede training. Het is verwonderlijk druk in de steden. Vele bussen
