For about an hour we’ve been in the Monkey Bay Beach Resort in the same place on Lake Malawi. Of course it looks different than in the description of booking.com but one thing was correctl and that was the friendliness of the staff. We have a room with private bathroom.

This morning we left from the lodge in Blantyre and went to Kwik-Fit, really, to buy a battery. The bush camper has 2 batteries, so that the refrigerator can never empty the main battery. However, that battery of the fridge did not work well and after some consultation with the vendor (Bushlore, what are those people helpful), I replaced the battery. According to Dieter of Bushlore, this can be claimed under warranty. First see if it’s solved now!

The road from Blantyre led via Zomba, Liwonde to Lake Malawi. The roads were quite good and at a certain moment (the M3) even excellent but still we were from 8:30 to 15:00 on the way to travel 240 km. It is simply not so fast passing through all those villages and with all those police checks.

Paying by credit card when refueling is something that can’t be accommodated here so we have to pay cash. Luckily I found an ATM that wanted to give more than 80000 kwachees (120.000) and I have used it gratefully.

Life is happening here on the street. Everywhere are people, everywhere you see stuff for sale. You can’t think of it, or it is sold from complete pigs to clothes. We also see a lot of churches and, curiously, also many mosques. There is also a lot of bicycles with lots of luggage on the back especially large bags with charcoal but also building materials.

We are now over 4 weeks on the road and it’s time to reflect and see if we need to change or adapt things. As we stay a week in Monkey Bay, we’ll do it now.

So the next few days will be boring for your followers because I’m going to read, watch film, swim and do nothing. It is my goal to not use the car the next few days, at most for some small supplies. Photos I will post!
