Our last camping pitch in South Africa tonight, in Marloth Park. This is a freely accessible park adjacent to the Kruger Park. We left yesterday morning from Tierpoort to go via Bushlore in Midrand finally to the N4 towards Witbank (Emalahleni). I had discovered a camping site near Middelburg, in Presidentsrus via the app of Caravanparks. A truly superbly located resort on a river, see the pictures. How beautiful!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

What a beautiful landscape we drove through. Rich with lots of farmland but also many mines. The road to the west of Pretoria is called the Platinum Highway. There are also huge coal-fired power plants (Kusile) where major delays occur due to corruption and mismanagement of Eskom (Nuon of South Africa).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It was cold in Presidentsrus, very cold, something like 5 degrees so we woke up very early and went also very early to bed. As a result, we left at half past seven to drive the N4 towards Mozambique. That road went through an awsome \u00a0area, especially near Nelspruit with lots of fruit trees and forests. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The camp site in Komatipoort was not acceptable according to Lisa and so I was sent to the north towards the Marloth park where we are now facing the Kruger Wildtuin and a river (with Hippo\u2019s we hear them already). The zebras run free around here (not at the campsite though).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This afternoon we have made the latest purchases in South Africa such as Norit and mosquito repellent. The money has been changed and that’s an operation because you can’t just do that at a bank. Tomorrow the border will be passed and our next stop is probably Xai-Xai. I will try to buy a local SIM card for the internet but it may take some time. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
