Yesterday, Tom, Farrah, Luna and Niels left for a short visit to Dysselsdorp. That’s a long ride of almost 500 km but fortunately Tom and Niels are both drivers. They have arrived safely in the meantime and will travel back tomorrow, with my parents in-law.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Here in Green Point boredom strikes me. I wrote earlier that I did not like my holiday in Cape Town and that has not gotten better, rather worse. Of course this is me complaining, but the circumstances don’t really help either. There is the power outage 3 times a day and that is, if you have paid a lot for accommodation, just annoying. Fighting for parking space near the apartment comes in at a good second place.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, I have heard from my friends that the Netherlands has a new Pim Fortuyn in the form of Thierry Baudet. We have wonderful discussions about it through Whatsapp, where I have the advantage of being far away. The massacre in Utrecht is of course also known to me and there is only total horror. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Appalling is also the total destruction of Central Mozambique and Zimbabwe by storm Idai. We drove 3 months ago on the road to the port city of Beira and stopped in the village of Tica at about 100 km away from the coast. That is where the road is now just ends; the rest is mud, water and havoc. Doom struck ruthlessly here. Nature is the biggest terrorist out there….<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Today is our last day in Green Point. Tomorrow we depart for the house that Farrah has arranged in Hout Bay about 15 km away. Packing the car will be a nice job considering that Farrah and Niels have left some very big suitcases!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

About a little over 3 weeks we go back to the Netherlands and I do not look foward to that. It’s nice to see family, friends and Snuffel (our house cat) again but there are a lot of things I don’t look forward to. Six months away from the Netherlands my view on ‘ My Life ‘ changed forever. There have been periods in which I thought to be happy in a hut somewhere or by buying a house in South Africa. Money is also a driving force, but when is there enough money? I’m still not there and that’s OK and only admitting that is for me a victory. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
