16 March, Cape Town

Peter 6

For some days we are in Cape Town, to be precise in Green Point near the famous Stadium of the World Cup 2010. We are in an apartment on the fifth floor with a large balcony and a small swimming pool. They call it a penthouse but in my opinion you have to be on the top floor to qualify and we are not. The famous Waterfront Area is within walking distance. Wednesday we had flooding here in the apartment because of a blocked shower drain and Tamara had noticed this too late.

My gout is now really cured with an ever decreasing pain; I can walk better.

Sunday, Monday and Tuesday we spent with my parents in-law. In the night of Monday on Tuesday there were heavy rains with great water nuisance in the village. Tuesday we drove 450 km to Cape Town via the R62 where we were in a lot of delays due to road repairs.

Now we are in the middle of Cape Town! Lisa likes it a bit because of the history she has with this city; she has lived there for 15 years. For me it’s busy, noisy and it stinks. I yearn for the desert….

Farrah, Niels and Luna arrive on Monday at the airport here and leave on Thursday to my parents-in-law for a short visit. My (poor) granddaughter will be introduced into the family there while Niels has to negotiate with my father-in-law about the dowry (the lobola). Good luck Niels!

Today is the carnival here in Cape Town where the cars will drive in front of our apartment. Tomorrow we will once again barbecue. Monday I have a garage appointment for maintenance of the car. We have been driving 21.000 km.

    God bless you all,
Om shanti, shanti, shanti, dikke kus voor allemaal,
    Flim
